베트남 다낭은 100만 명이 넘는 주민이 거주하는 곳으로, 긴 모래사장과 장엄한 대리석 산이 유명하다. 아름다운 해안 도시에 자리 잡은 호텔 Le Bouton은 번잡한 도시 Tran Dinh Dan Street와 자연을 연결시켜 방문객들에게 새로운 모습을 선사했다. D1 Architectural Studio는 낡고 오래된 호텔 전면의 파사드를 자연의 일부로 탈바꿈했고, 다낭의 모습을 디자인 요소로 가져오기 위해 지역 공예가들과 협력하여 작업했다. 지하 1층과 7층, 총 25개의 객실로 이루어진 호텔에는 카페, 바, 수영장 등이 마련되어 있으며 럭셔리 호텔에 걸맞은 서비스 패키지를 제공하고 있다.

Da Nang is famous for its long sandy beaches and majestic marble mountains overlooking the coastal city of over 1 million people. The Hotel Le Bouton proudly announces its identity in the busy urban area of Tran Dinh Dan Street: a streak that connects its visitors to the natural beauty of Da Nang. D1's design challenges long- standing architectural ciché by bringing the interior design up front to turn the façade into a scenery itself. D1 has been working with local craftsmen to transpose the spirit of Da Nang into each design element. The Hotel Le Bouton hosts 25 guestrooms, 7 floors and one basement. On the ground floor, D1 makes space to accommodate a cafe, bar and pool to deliver an exemplary service package befitting a luxury hotel.

Da Nang faces many challenges to architects due to its unique landscape and climate. The weather in the Central region is hot, rainy, and especially stormy, thus careful consideration needs to be dedicated in selecting the most optimal material to endure against the extreme climatic conditions, especially in this project as it situates near the sea. Architects have come up with an organic structural design solution that allows negligible construction deviations, but still entertains architects' creativity and above all, environmental friendly. A prime example of responsibly-built constructions, the Hotel Le Bouton contributes to sustainable architectural developments, while taking pride in its natural beauty.

복잡한 도심 속에서 시원한 해변의 정취를 느낄 수 있도록 자연에서 영감을 받아 만들어진 호텔의 내부는 넘실거리는 물결의 모양을 따라 디자인됐다. 지하의 모래 정원과 테라스, 석회암 절벽을 본떠 만든 1층 공간 등 실내 곳곳에는 다낭의 아름다운 자연을 고스란히 만끽할 수 있는 요소들이 즐비해 있다. 바닷가의 모래를 그대로 옮겨놓은 정원에서 따사로운 햇살을 받을 수 있으며, 중부 해안의 식물이 가득한 테라스로 인해 손님들은 멀리 가지 않아도 호텔 안에서 다낭의 해변을 마음껏 즐길 수 있다.

Along the basement through to the rooftop features a series of elements that embody Da Nang's natural beauty: the sand garden in the basement and the dry garden on the terrace. The garden, filled with natural marine sand, is designed to be an exposed space that welcomes natural light; while the dry garden is modelled to be a miniature beach with light pillars that symbolize the mountains, sand and the ingenious flora species of the Central Coast. The miniature can swiftly transport any guests walking by straight to Da Nang beach, where they promenade afoot, amidst the waves gently caressing their ankles.

D1의 건축물은 지역 문화에 기반을 두고 있다. 스튜디오는 지역의 재료를 수집하여 자신들의 디자인에 적용하고, 지역적 친밀감을 불어넣는다. 이들은 이러한 방식을 통해 전통적 가치를 보존하고 지역경제 발전에 기여했다. 이번 프로젝트 역시 장인들과 함께 인테리어의 모든 요소를 기획했다. 단 하나의 중복되는 디테일이 없도록 신중하게 디자인을 작업했고, 재료의 질감이 돋보이게끔 만들었다. 한편, 다낭은 독특한 풍경과 기후로 인해 많은 건축가들의 도전을 불러일으키는 곳이다. D1은 혹독한 햇볕과 태풍을 견딜 수 있는 두껍고 튼튼한 외벽을 사용했고, 건물의 수직 방향을 세심하게 계산해 자연풍을 호텔 내부로 끌어들였다. 높고 투명한 유리 천장으로 시야를 넓히고 자연광을 획득해 공기를 순환시키고 각 공간을 성공적으로 연결했다. 뿐만 아니라 에어컨 사용을 줄여 에너지 절약과 환경 보호에 앞장섰다.
